A fine day for flamingos.
Another agonising day of waiting for news on my submissions flew by thanks to disappointing news on lobster rights, the curious science of contrails, and a Chilean flamingo chick hatched to a same-sex flamingo couple. The last was by far the most fun to write. A brief jaunt into the lives of flamingos Curtis and Arthur that reminded me of an interview I set up for IFLScience’s CURIOUS Live.
For it, my colleague Eleanor got to chat with Josh Davis, the now-author of A Little Gay Natural History which is an excellent guide to the many animals we’ve seen same-sex behaviours in. Now, this latest report has brought a dumpy little chick into the world, and I, for one, am a huge fan.
Here’s to more chicks, and fewer degrees Celsius.
